Privacy Policy for SpaceMan 99

Last Updated: October 24, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how SpaceMan 99 ("the application") handles user data and privacy. SpaceMan 99 is a Windows application that shows how much space every folder uses, finds duplicate files and the largest files, produces reports, and deletes the files you choose. It also adds an "Open in SpaceMan 99" command to the File Explorer context menu.

Information Collection

SpaceMan 99 does not collect any personal information while you use it.

The application works entirely on your local device and does not:

The only times SpaceMan 99 connects to the internet are to check for updates and to activate a Pro license, as described below.

Update Checks

SpaceMan 99 checks our server for a newer version at most once a day. The check sends only the product and the version number you have installed. Like any connection to a website, it reveals your IP address, which may appear in our web server logs.

You can turn this off by clearing "Check for updates automatically" in Settings > About. If you installed SpaceMan 99 from the Microsoft Store, updates are delivered by the Store and SpaceMan 99 does not check for them itself.

License Validation

SpaceMan 99 is free for non-commercial use without a license. When you activate a Pro license, the application communicates with our licensing server to validate your license. During this process:

Our server keeps a record of each activation with your order: the hardware fingerprint, the IP address the request came from, and the date. This information is used solely for license validation and to prevent unauthorized use, and is kept for as long as we keep your order.

File System Access

SpaceMan 99 only accesses your file system to:

  1. Read the names, sizes, dates and attributes of files and folders in the drives, folders and network locations you browse or scan
  2. Read the contents of files to find out which ones are identical, when you look for duplicates
  3. Delete the files you choose, to the Recycle Bin or permanently, when you explicitly request this action
  4. Save a report to the file you choose, when you explicitly request this action

Data Storage

SpaceMan 99 keeps a cache on your computer, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ExtraBit\SpaceMan 99, so that it does not have to read everything again next time: the names of the folders it has looked in, the names, sizes and dates of the files in them, and a checksum of the contents of each file it compared when looking for duplicates. It also stores its settings, including the last folder you selected and any network servers you added, and your license, including the "licensed to" name. All of this stays on your computer and is never sent anywhere.

Third-Party Services

SpaceMan 99 does not utilize any third-party analytics tools or advertising platforms. The only external communication is with our own server, as described above.

Purchases and Our Website

When you buy a license, your order is processed by Paddle, our reseller. The information we hold about your order, and your rights over it, are covered by the ExtraBit Software Privacy Policy, which also covers our website.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
