Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how CopyFilenames ("the application") handles user data and privacy. CopyFilenames is a Windows File Explorer extension that provides commands to copy file and folder names and attributes to the clipboard, and another command to batch rename files.

Information Collection

CopyFilenames does not collect any personal information during normal use.

The core functionality of the application operates entirely on your local device and does not:

• Collect usage statistics
• Track your activity
• Store any personal data

License Validation

When you activate a PRO license, the application communicates with our licensing server to validate your license. During this process:

• Information sent to our server: A hardware fingerprint (a scrambled identifier that cannot be used to determine any information about your machine). For enterprise customers only, if you activate a license in user mode, then your Windows account username will be sent so that the license can be associated with that user.
• Information received from our server: The name provided during license purchase, which is displayed as the "licensed to" name within the application.

This information is used solely for license validation and to prevent unauthorized use. No other data is collected or transmitted.

File System Access

CopyFilenames only accesses your file system to:

1. Read file and folder names and attributes when you explicitly request this action via the context menu
2. Rename files and folders when you explicitly request this action via the context menu

Data Storage

The application does not maintain any database, logs, or persistent storage of your file system information. All scanning results are temporary and exist only during the active session of using the feature.

Third-Party Services

CopyFilenames does not utilize any third-party analytics tools or advertising platforms. The only external communication is with our own licensing server as described above.
